Well the holidays are in full effect, with only a few shopping days left.  Too late to order online, I can only window shop now and look at all the pretty holiday things out there.  Checking out a Cagey Bee's blog, you can check out a lot of her gift ideas.

Also check out her contributions to this month's Sampler, 4 pack of notecards featuring Kris Brownlee's artwork.

aCageyBee.com is the online home of painter kgb (or Kris G. Brownlee, if you're not into the whole brevity thing). She paints cute character portraits with a storybook feel, enjoyed by the tall and the small. Aside from original paintings and prints, she makes a whole slew of crafty goodness - pretty pendants and necklaces, bookplates, stickers and more!

OK, after much umming and ahhing I have decide to knit myself a blanket. A nice thick chunky blanket that I can wrap myself up in next winter.

So now I'm looking for a simple easy pattern that a novice can tackle throughout the year.

I guess I want the blanket 7ft by 6ft and I'm not bothered by the colour, but purple will feature heavily.

So any plans out there that I can pick up in the UK.

Remember, simple is the key! You see I have no idea what needles or yarn I would need, so very simple!

I will be searching Ravelry too!

Actually just because someone is nice to animals, doesn't mean they are automatically nice or good to other people or the environment. There are a lot of people out there who are nice to pets, who are in turn total jackasses to everyone else - completely ignoring the fact that their actions add to the problems of the world and they are causing much of their own misery. A pet is something that is subservient to you, no matter who you are. (Yes, even cats.) I've seen "animal" people lose their temper when they come across an animal they can't control. Until that moment, they appear to be some of the sweetest people around - because they have control of their environment. Up until that moment, even they may think that they would never be cruel to an animal. And unfortunately, several of them will push that moment out of their memory to avoid facing the fact that they are actually control freaks.

A better test of someone's character would be to see how they treat the mentally disabled and the very elderly. Because when we work with a being that looks more like us, we are more likely to transfer our issues on them. "Good" people (or emotionally mature people) can separate their issues from those they deal with.

That said, bad health and stress can override a whole lot. So, I guess this is another reason we should eat well and sleep right. I would just avoid using the treatment of animals as a prime indicator of "goodness". It's a great indication of unnecessary cruelty, though. I just tired of seeing people parading how good they are to animals and then turn around and act in ways towards their fellow humans that would screw with any psyche - only to go ahead and blame humanity in general for their bad behavior.

Does anyone have a (um, living) grandma who doesn’t?

Grandparents have the best stuff: most notably those gnarly pill cases with the days of the week written on them. More than once, I’ve secretly yearned for a pill case of my own. I’d have to paint it purple so people would say, “How alternative!” instead of “How pathetic!”

I’d also like blue hair.

You know what? Forget grandmas. This picture is pretty much about the ideal me.

I am doing a very important art project, for school. & before you switch the page. It is very important & might have a great deal to do with my future endeavors.
Please read.
I need people for this project. It's both something wonderful & hard to achieve in such little time i have to do this project.
Specifically, people who've had near death experience's. Thus, the title.
I have a set of questions i'd need you to answer [nothing terribley hard or long]
& most importantly put on video. I'll elaborate more one on one [via e-mail.] & if you no longer have any interest after that, that's completely fine of course.
I'll need you to record a decent video of yourself of you explaining the answers to the few questions. All revolving around your near death experiance of course.
Please, if you have any relative story or interest in helping just respond to this post or e-mail me back at blahblahblah42670@yahoo.com.
I really appreciate it.
Really really.
I know it's something weird to ask but it's for the sake of a students art project. I need this before January starts but just e-mail me for instructions & general elaboration on this.
I'll send you the video of the completed project in the end.
That's all i can offer, That and my extreme gratitude.
Thank you, Linda Marcos.

Okay so lack of CC for my sims 3 game has gotten to me, and FINALLY there's enough out there for me to look through.. But it's so god damned CONFUSING. I don't know what I am doing *cry* Every thing I find it seems like they assume I have some basic knowledge of what to do and I know it's different than sims 2 because the tutorial I had with some peggy sims hair I got (i think it was peggy) had this really complicated way of installing and when I followed the instructions it never did work.

I did end up finding a program thingie on MTS and that worked for the peggy hair but anything that is a sims3pack file won't install for some reason and it won't show up in my game, even the stuff from the official sims 3 exchange. I HATE THIS. I love the gameplay but the CC debacles is just fucking ridiculous. FAIL, EA, FAIL.

And mostly i hate it because it makes me feel like such a noob but i swear if there are posts out there that break it down cut and dry, I'm not finding them. Nor am I finding any on why installing the CC from the exchange isn't working, except for one workaround that, well, didn't work.

Oh noes!

I started the Chunky Ribs and Ruffles Scarf a couple of months ago for a Christmas gift. The free pattern used to be found here: http://www.mistialpaca.com/downloads/ribs_ruffles_scarf.pdf

Well, it is not there now and all I have left to do is the last ruffle. Does anyone have a copy of this pattern? I hope it is ok to ask. It was free a couple months ago!

TIA and Happy Holidays!

Hi all. Hope all your various projects are going well. I'm a student and just finished up exams&etc. yesterday. I'm looking forward to three blissful, relaxing weeks off and want to start up a knitting project. I've only done small projects up until now, and I'm ready to take on something bigger now.

I was at Urban Outfitters the other day, and saw a few scarves that I really liked. They were superlong (if you fold them lengthwise, the scarf would still be longer than my own height at 5'3"). They didn't have any special patterns, but the yarn was marled and a bit bulky. They were appealing because I live in a super-cold climate and want a scarf I can wrap around my head as well as my neck.

Those scarves were around $45 and I figured that at price, I could attempt to make one myself instead of buying one. I tried to find a picture online of the scarves, this might be it.

Now, I know it might be a long shot to find a pattern for this particular scarf. (And I don't really know how to read patterns anyway.) But in lieu of patterns, does anyone have any ideas or input as to how I can go about knitting a scarf like the one pictured? As I said, I've only done smaller projects (e.g. a cell phone case) before, but I'm up for trying this in the next three weeks.

Hope you can help, and thanks in advance! :)
